This session will offer a multimodal approach to making ZINES. The facilitators will invite participants to learn about ZINES and how to make them as a prompt to explore new areas of interest, shed light on a hot topic, or just simply express excitement about what they love about learning spaces. ZINES offer an alternative and accessible learning modality, and a way for students to take ownership of their work by creating a reproducible, shareable physical object.

Let’s Get Meta: Workshopping Workshops and Syllabi for Student and Faculty Engagement
Facilitator: Amanda M. May, PhD
Description: This workshop encourages participants to (re)consider the concept of a “workshop” to improve engagement in classroom and professional development spaces. Using the syllabus as an example, participants will collaboratively refine a course policy in their syllabus. Following that example, participants will brainstorm workshops they could integrate into their courses or pitch for the next CTE development days using a framing set of questions.

Instructors are encouraged to bring their syllabi and, prior to the workshop, identify one policy for their course they would like to workshop.
